Time For a New Anvil Stand
Просмотров 51 тыс.6 лет назад
Making an anvil stand from left over materials. I'd guess the cost of this project is about $35, seems affordable considering most commercially available stands are well over $100. This is the fourth stand of this design I've made. So, yeah, I'd recommend It.

Double Six Dot Maker

About halfway through this video I use the previously made center punch to make 168 dots, twice-ish. A full set of Double Six dominoes is twenty-eight pieces. That's six dots per square inch... not bad for a dollar! Base material: 1x3/8 @ 60" A36

Blacksmith Sketching
Просмотров 3657 лет назад
When you want to make something you have a couple of choices, copy an existing design, or start sketching until something sparks your interest. For a lot of new creators, a sheet of blank paper can be the most intimidating tool in the shop. However, it is much easier than blacksmithing and with a little practice it’s easy to turn paper into an asset. The most difficult part of learning to sketc...

I'm disabled and I don't have a whole lot of time left on this planet. I buy my spring seal from places like Castle metals and other tool steel supply houses. I've done that, I've made steel Springs out of other Springs, it's a lot of work it's a lot of extra work I don't have to do.

A solid stump is replaced by a hollow stand constructed of a softwood like pine while simultaneously saying you’re a welder and could fabricate a stand. I’m not following the logic but if it works for you more power to you.

It's for rapidly cooling mild steel, which normally has a difficult time hardening otherwise. High-carbon steel is simple to heat-treat by dunking orange-hot steel into plain water or even heated oil. But mild still won't hold an edge unless you use this "speed quench" solution.

    • @luciusirving5926

π d will give you the inside measurement of your circle and you'll be 1/2" short. For smithing purposes just take the diameter of the circle and x 3 it will give you close to the actual measurement to the centre of the material. Re the 11psi, you need to look at your setup. In an outfit like that your should be on about 3 to 5. Not being critical, just trying to help.

I know this is an old Post, but another advantage of the blue is when the quench has been used a lot it and is going bad it turns a greenish color; built in indicator that doesn't show as well with the green
